RedMagic Astra 2 has been certified and could become the top gaming tablet of 2026.
RedMagic Astra 2 recently received a new certification in China, suggesting that its launch is imminent and providing details on its features. The device, identified as model number NP06J, was listed in the 3C organization, confirming its compatibility with 80W fast charging, similar to the original RedMagic Astra.
The initial Astra model left a strong impact during testing at the Net Workshop, scoring 9.5 for its impressive performance, high-quality OLED display, good battery life, and compact design reminiscent of an Android handheld gaming device.
Certification signals an imminent launch.
The 3C certification is typically one of the final procedures before a product is launched in China commercially. For the RedMagic Astra 2, it signifies that the device is nearly prepared for market entry or is at a sufficient stage to meet the necessary requirements in the local market.

The document does not provide extensive technical information about the plug but does confirm that it supports 80W charging power. This suggests that RedMagic has chosen to maintain the previous model’s charging speed rather than opting for a faster recharge.
Expectations for the RedMagic Astra 2
RedMagic Astra 2 is expected to be the international variant of the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which is a well-known brand in China. Based on leaked details and early information, the tablet is likely to retain its compact design with a screen size around 9 inches, while offering significantly improved performance.
The anticipated display features a 9-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1504 pixels and a refresh rate of 185 Hz. This upgrade from the original Astra 165 Hz model would be particularly beneficial for gamers, especially in competitive gaming scenarios that benefit from higher frame rates.
The tablet is expected to be among the most powerful Android devices of the year if RedMagic can maintain strong thermal stability during extended usage, thanks to the upgraded Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
The most intriguing aspect of the new Astra 2 may lie in its cooling mechanism, as it is set to replace the conventional fan-based approach with an active liquid cooling system featuring internal circulation dedicated to the task.
Liquid cooling increases the cost, though it comes with an 8,300 mAh battery, slightly higher than the Astra’s original 8,200 mAh but lower than some rival models with larger cells.
Another important feature to consider is bypass charging, which enables you to charge the tablet directly while in use by diverting a portion of the battery’s energy.
The tablet is expected to launch in China in June 2026 before becoming available worldwide. There is no confirmation yet regarding its release in Brazil, but similar to the first Astra model, it is likely to be imported.
