Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 have been newly certified and are set to be released soon.

Samsung will unveil two new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2, alongside new foldables at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. The watches have been certified by the NBTC of Thailand, hinting at an imminent release.

Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 have been approved.

The certification unveiled two different model numbers for the Galaxy Watch 9, “SM-L345F” and “SM-L355F”, indicating two size options. The upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, following last year’s Watch Ultra, is identified by the model number “SM-L715F”.

The specifications of the watches were not disclosed in the records, but the presence of the “F” suggests they are global versions with 4G support. Leaks have provided essential details about the upcoming Samsung smartwatches, particularly the Ultra model.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may feature a screen that boasts an impressive brightness of 5,000 nits.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to maintain similar physical characteristics to the current model screen, including a 1.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels and a density of 327 ppi.

The main new feature would be the higher maximum brightness of 5,000 nits. It is uncertain from the leak whether Samsung will opt for a traditional OLED panel or MicroLED technology, but the prevailing expectation is for an OLED panel to be used.

Samsung Display showcased On-Cell Film (OCF) technology at MWC 2025, which is said to enhance screen brightness and visibility outdoors without a notable rise in power usage.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is rumored to come with improved durability, including an upgrade to IP69K certification for greater dust protection and resistance to high-pressure water jets, surpassing the IP68 standard of the original Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Enhanced processor and increased battery capacity

Rumors suggest that there will be an upgraded hardware configuration for the new smartwatch, potentially featuring the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform by Qualcomm. It is anticipated that this chip will deliver improved performance and increased energy efficiency.

The 800 mAh battery in the new model can improve battery life, and it is expected to come with One UI 9 Watch, featuring new health-focused features, fitness activities, and connectivity with the Galaxy ecosystem.

Samsung needs to offer new official wristband choices for customizing the device, with rumors indicating the possibility of a blue color option.

The launch occurs in July.

The new watches are anticipated to be unveiled at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, possibly scheduled for July 22. Samsung is expected to also introduce the foldable devices Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8 during the event.
